16.5 pounds?!
Have I heard that story?

The sweater's origin will take some thought.

No it won't, I remember exactly when I got that sweater. On the Spit... when the Spit Rats still lived there... Way back when.

That was the best fishing trip ever... i never realized Shane snuck off like that, to get to the river first, but we caught up with him. Thankfully he got the hole and let fish with him. We sure had some frustrated fishermen walk by that morning.

I wasn't sad... I was trying to tell the camera that it was MINE.... all mine!!! I hooked it, brought it in and made dad kill it! My first Silver all by my lonesome, well kinda.

Nice sweater, but damm, that is really one nice Silver Salmon. New record, did I ever tell all of you how I managed to catch that 16.5 Silver. I was fishing a #10 black gnat in some fast moving water when he leaped out of the water, grabbed the fly in mid air and headed to fast water. Had to wade the river several times to keep up with him as he headed back to sea, but after 2.5 hours he finally stop in a deep hole and hunkered down in deep water. Not being able to move him, after a half hour I threw a couple of rocks into the hole to stir him up and use up some of his re-stored energy. He made his error when he come to the surface to fight me, the high jumps and speed runs finally played a toll on him and he succumbed to my net. He mostly likely started the fight weighing in at 18 or more pounds and wore himself down to a very respectable 16.5 pounds.

it is amazing how my memory serves me a scene with an almost spawned, lethargic mass of salmon meat being dragged up on the bank (by 20 lb. test and the drag locked) approximately 20 seconds after the hook was set. see that hooked jaw? we had to scrape tail rot for a good picture!

I haven't heard that story since the summer of '08, I think you should share the whole story again.

If Snow White is going to leave a comment, I must respond. A couple of pictures that I have of that morning celebration back at the HITW shows your Price charming standing in the background, coffee cup in hand but after reviewing the pictures,I could not see you. Then I looked at the date/time stamp on the photos and it was 10:47 am, way to early for you to be up and around.I will re-tell the story for you this next summer around the Fire Pit, several times I am sure. As for the comments left by the Plumma. It was not me that tried to sneak a spawned out humpie into the Silver Salmon Derby the previous two years. Four years of Derby fishing and you finally caught a Silver this year, way to go!!!!!
