Mornin', Prattler!
I believe the vehicle pictured to be a Bugatti T57. Production year(s) 1934-1939 and only 685 of them were built. The hood housed an in-line (straight) 8 cylinder engine producing 135 RAW horsepower @ 5000 rpm. The top rate of speed is unknown to me, though.

Plumma, you are almost right. It is a Bugatti, however I was looking for the exact year on the car for your bonus points. You failed on speed and value so your points now total 2.5 points out of a possible of 8 points. I will not disqualify your entry, although you did step into a little trap however I cannot condemn you for taking advantage of a little known trick that I have personally used in your past trivia questions ~ it is our secret.

This is a Bugatti, the company was founded 1909 and collapsed in 1940. This particular car was found in a garage by the family of Dr. Harold Carr (with 2 r's)and had not been driven for over 50 years. It is a 1937 Bugatti Type 57S. The car was previously owned by Earl Howe, a prominent British race car driver. Dr. Carr purchased it from him. During the driving days of this car, the maximum speed out of most cars topped out at 50 mph, this Bugatti would do 130 mph. The car can be converted back to its original form as all the parts taken from the car to increase the speed were kept with the car. The family of Dr. Carr sold the Bugatti on the auction block this past Friday for 4.4 million dollars.

I recognized the Bugatti right off the start, but had to research for what model. My research - limited by time, of course - never turned up a speed. The exact year would be a mystery to any buff with 6 years of production of the same model(s).
Jay Leno's Bugatti T57 was too modified/remodeled to compare.
Thanks for 2.5 points, though. The competition was stiff (or, were "stiffs"?).
