Weather Report

Posted by Stan Harrington

Despite the fact that we have been feeling the effects of Global Warming over the past eight weeks, we once again saw a little winter again today. Eight weeks ago this past Monday was the last time I had to plow snow, however, that record will be broken come daylight. We got dumped on most of the day with near white conditions existing most of the day. Our total accumulation in the Little Village By The River is about ten inches and still snowing.

It is not often that I compliment our bureaucrats, however, this morning as I saw the snow falling on my clean driveway, I clicked onto the weather site. I was shocked at the new layout. It is really neat, the various weather forecast areas are color coded and if you slide your cursor over the map, it will give you a mini weather report for each area without having to go to the primary forecast page. The site is vastly improved and deserves a visit and added to your favorite list. From the side bar, you can click on "radar" to get a live read from the Doppler Radar by clicking on the area that you want to check. Next time you see a prognosticator, pat them on the back and let them know that it was a job "well done".

Disvovered something new on the weather site, if you run your cursor over the various bodies of water, it will also give you a mini Marine Forecast, so now you do not have to switch to a different page to see the weather or marine forecast. A great innovations - it takes so little to make me happy:)

Google earth is a blast. Zoom in on San Diego . There is a CV at
North Island nmbr 68. Many other
surface vessels at 32ed street piers. Is it considered stalking to zoom in on Malibu? I tried to find Jenni's house but to no avail.
I also tried to see if the finish line at Nome was clearly visible.

You may want to keep an eye on your rear view mirror, that black sedan following you is not tailgating you or catching your tail draft. As a matter of national security, I don't think you should be tellingthe world that naval vessels are in port and whre they are tied up at. Remember the WW II slogan "Loose Lips Sink Ships". Those two old good boys wearing sun glasses and talking into the plam of their hand - may be watching you! Now how could computer illerate me be hacking your site "William", Ranger Bill or "Billy Bob", whichever name you are using. The boys in the black sedan may be intrested in why one truck driver has so many othr names as well!

Ok I tested it, I did Google earth
for the Crete terminal in Lincoln
NE, its an old photo but none the
less was interesting. Semi trucks
show up real well under the lens
of satelite technology

i found out for instance that cvs
38, a ship you know well, was
decommissioned 07/30/71

3/9/07, 8:45 PM

She was a great ship, first she was a CV, then converted to CVA, then CVS. U.S.S. Shangri-La some where in my archives is a complete history on her. She was sold to Twaiwan fro scrap metal, a sad ending to a ship that brought hope to the U.S. during WWII - Col Jimmy Doolittles mission over Tokyo was where the name was derived, when the President was ask whre the Amercian Bombers came from, he told them "Shangri-La. It was after the Hornet was sunk, they built a new carrier to replace it and named it Shangri-La.

Google Earth is not real live time, however, if you pay the bucks you can get real time!
