The first day of our adventure is completed after driving from LA to Tok, Alaska and just ninty miles from a forign country. It was an easy day drive, once we got to Eagle River, there was no sign of snow. Hit a little wet highway at Sheep Mountain and just prior to getting into Tok. A very light skiff of snow on the ground here. Was a pretty trip, no wildlife, but we did see at least a hundred swans scattered in the lakes between here and Sheep Mountain. A few of the lakes had just enough open water for a couple of Swans to sit in, have no idea why they are not going south. Will post a picture later, but found a bridge indentical to the Anchor River bridge.
Everything is working out great! The first motel we found has internet connections so the laptop was a good investment and they gladly accepted Dutch as their guest. The GPS unit is great, everyone should have one, a great aid in driving to see what is coming up and scouting out new rivers for next summer explortion - saw three today that is going to require some research!
Going to spend the evening studying some key phrases in our Canadian Dictionary so we will be able to converse with the locals while in Canada. If anyone is looking for a business opportunity, may want to consider an Espresso Stand between Glenn Allen and Tok, a long ways to drive with no coffee!!!!! I always throught Anchor Point closed for the winter, then I visited Tok! Pretty quiet town, the only bar in town closes at 7:00 pm, winter hours! Talk to you on down the road.

I got internet again!!! YEAH! Glad you made it to Tok....did you remember you language software for blogging in Canada? I can't read French!
I'll let mocha girls know so they can install a stand on the tok cut off. Mentaska Lodge wasn't open?
By now Stan and Terry ought to be cussing the road maintenance all the way to Klaune Lake. That section is why I support an invasion of Canada by the Army Engineers.
That is a horrible area isn't it. It has been 16 years, but I hear it is still awful. Is it Dad?
You really ought to get a Canadian - American translator program - I think those French/Canadian short waves are messing with your spellcheck!
Did Terry's camera come with a cord to USB?
May the wind be at your back, and the roads be in your camber.
Swans stick around all winter! its hard to see them though being white and all.
