Mt. Redout Dumps On Anchor Point

Today, we saw nearly clear sky's in Anchor Point, except in the northwesterly direction of Mt. Redoubt where the sky's were overcast from the latest eruption. Slowly the clouds moved toward the direction of Anchor Point. The movement blocked out the sun to where just just a small patch could be seen. Within thirty minutes the sky was dark, as if it were late evening and slowly the fallout ash from Mt. Redoubt begin falling to earth. The clock on the wall said 2:00 p.m., but to the human sense it felt like it was late evening. The fallout fell for about 35 minutes and passed onto the southeast of us. Our clear skis returned but the landscape including the spruce trees were a ghostly gray in color.

Homer too was blessed by the eerie early darkening of the sky with ash falling here and then some snow with it. We are back to overcast now, however the yard is gray and looks awful, anyone have any white spray paint?

I agree with you Snow1, my beautiful lawn area of pure white snow now looks like a concrete pad. Not to mention how ugly it is when 16 paw prints track into the house. For once, I won't even mind if it would snow several inches. But the good news, our lawns and flower beds should flourish this summer.

It IS hard to find available nutrients for plants as the ash may hold. I would complain that the mountain doesn't like LA due to bypassing us several times, but there may still be a chance to have ashes made of us.

We saw the Redoubt story on the local Grand Junction news channel last night over at my moms. Coleman asked how far Redoubt was from Anchor Point and I couldn't remember.

"Ding - Ding" retired Navy Chief arriving. Welcome aboard Chief! Good to see you on the site. To answer your question, Mt Redoubt is located to the west by northwest of Anchor Point. Without breaking out a chart, I am guessing that Anchor Point is in a radius of 50 -60 miles of the mountain. Clearly visible from the windows of our house, except when it explodes. It seems to always occur during cloudy conditions. It went off again last night just prior to midnight.

Just noted from the weather gauge on the site that Anchor Point and Anchorage is warmer than Lincoln, NE and Montrose, CO. Way to go Alaska.

Great shots of the ash. I am friends with Heidi and have not been able to get good shots.(in anchorage)
My husband is working in Kenai and Beluga and has not taken one picture!

Yesterday was extremely cold and WINDY in Lincoln, NE. BUT we do also have green leaves on our tree and have seen days as hot as 75! I hoping that soon we will start to see some warmer weather.
