Today, was the second day of the Westminster Kennel Dog Show. The "working class" of dogs were judged today to determine the "Best of the Breed". Being that, I am a "toller" owner and a big fan of the breed, I am always interested in how the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers do in these larger shows.
BEST OF BREED
"TOP GUN" (DOG)

BEST OF BREED, OPPOSITE SEX

LITTLE RIVER'S BRYN (BITCH)

This gentleman was barred from entering the Dog Show as their was no category for Rabbits.

HOLY RABBIT... I went to the animal shelter with Rose's scout troop the other day. There was a rabbit there that was rescued from a lady in eagle river, along with several other rabbits, 12 or so sled dogs, and a chicken, anyway, the biggest rabbit was just a little smaller then that one. He was HUGE, they said he was about half the weight he should be. So if anyone needs a meal for the winter, the lady goes to court soon and then it will be up for "Adoption".

That male or "Dog" is gorgeous...but Dutch is much prettier then that bitch!

Heidi, you have an eye for a good looking "Toller", the male (Topgun) is a good looking example of the breed and I to was disappointed in the female, little or no long guard hair on her stomach. However, comparing "Dutch" to "Topgun", I would give Dutch extra points for having uniform white stockings, he is a broader chested than Topgun (great for breaking water when retrieving, stockier in body build, and no white hair on stomach (standard is uniform golden red color). Topgun would have the advantage with having the white blaze on his head and nose (judges like to see this). Judges also like to see a white tipped tail, which both dogs lack much of so they are tied in that respect. When I see the "show dogs" I often wonder if they are trained for the reason that they are bred, to train and work as a retriever. I would like to see tham have to go through some basic fields trials and obedience competition and not just walk around the arena. Just like the herd dogs, put a couple of sheep or cows in the arena and see how they work. Reserve the prancing around the arena for the poodles and lap dogs.

I had a friend that showed dogs...hers rarely came out of the Kennels...might muss up the hair...and something about mild manners...I thought it was cruel....that Bitch...her nose head and chest seem different than both Dutch and Top...hmmm is she realy a pure bred?? As for that bunny...he can come live with me in the Flannders House.
