Hyperbole Trivial Pursuit VI

Posted by Stan Harrington

A New Day, it is time once again to play Hyperbole Trivial Pursuit. For the results of Round 5, I would refer you to the comments section for that posting. The questions today should be very easy so you will want to ring in as quickly as possible, make sure you answer all questions completely to be seriously considered? The questions are:
(1) Who is this couple?
(2) What year was the photo taken?
(3) What is the easiest way to identify the man?
(4) Where was the picture taken?

Grandma and Grandpa Epperson (although Grandma looks a little taller)
Not sure on the year.
Grandpa really hasn’t changed.
Was it taken at Aunt Emma’s homestead? I think I remember her homestead being white, and Grandpa’s being a red rusty color.

grandma and grandpa epperson, I would guess sometime around 196o, aunt Emmas home stead is a good guess but I was thinking theirs...as for identiying the man...either the all black look, the nose or the hairline would give him away.

Congratulations once again, there were no winners! Each of you guessed that it was your grand parents, however, after that you were grasping at answers. The major misconception was in regards to Aunt Emma's homestead. Your mother and I had a good laugh on that answer, you see Aunt Emma has only been to Alaska two times for short visits - no way would she ever settle in as homesteader. The picture was taken in 1961 and they were living in the "Tice" house on Dimond Ridge, next to the cemetary, this was prior to building their house on the homestead. The homestead house was black, cellotex! It was later sided and painted. The easiest way to identify your grandfather is to look at his belt, to this day he continues to wear his belt buckle on his side! I know of no one else that does this, it use to be a stylish thing when I was a kid, but the reason he wears his like this is for a practical reason - you will need to guess why! Better luck next time!

I remember as a kid going up to the homestead, right before they sold it. Grandpa’s homestead was all locked up so we could not get inside. So we went down the road to “Aunt Emma’s” we got to see inside, remember mom getting the ceramic Violins (the ones that hung in her bathroom). If it was not Aunt Emma’s who homestead was it?

I imagine he wears it to the side so that it does not get in the way.

The other homestead was your Great Grandmoter, Mary Epperson. Jack's mother. She, Jack and his two brothers Keith and Wayne homesteaded ajoining 160 acre homesteads. The buckle on the side keeps it from digging into you stomach when carrying something or leaning over a piece of equipment.
